Same-Sex Parents and Child Support Program Requirements PIQ

OCSE has issued a Policy Interpretation Question (PIQ) regarding the use of parentage for paternity, in the IV-D program, meeting the needs of today’s families, including same-sex parent families. NCSEA reached out to OCSE in February, 2022 requesting that OCSE interprets “Paternity” as “Parentage” in Title IV-D of the Social Security Act and Federal Regulations.
