NCSEA U 2024 Curriculum: Leading with Heart
Participants in the 2024 NCSEA U at Leadership Symposium program will have the opportunity to explore the importance of what it means to lead with heart in order to change their workplaces for the better. Leading with Heart will equip participants with the tools to become more empathetic leaders, for the benefit of their team and the families they serve.
Interested in applying? We encourage interested applicants to already begin the process of requesting approval from their supervisors to participate in the program, as well to travel to NCSEA U and Leadership Symposium 2024.

1) Pre-Conference Get Acquainted Webinar – date TBD
2) Pre-Conference NCSEA U Session 101 – date TBD
Setting the stage for why we need leaders with hearts. The session will cover a brief history of the child support program to better understand the dynamics of the changing workplace. Participants will also have their first introduction to the concept of empathy.
3) NCSEA U Session 201 – on-site
Covering the importance of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in leading with heart.
4) NCSEA U Session 202 – on-site
Understanding and enhancing team dynamics and 360-degree leadership.
5) NCSEA U Session 301– on-site
Unpacking organizational change management and the Science of Service.
6) NCSEA Wrap-up – on-site
Final on-site session – Self-empathy (how to care for others without neglecting yourself) and the shift to why we do what we do, who we serve, and what we hope to provide them.
7) Post-conference NCSEA U Session 401 – date TBA
Summary and wrap-up of experience. Participants will have the opportunity to share the results of their projects and outcomes.

2024 Instructors
NCSEA is excited to welcome Robbie Endris and Laura Van Buskirk as the 2023-2024 NCSEA U instructors for Leadership Symposium.
Robbie Endris– Senior Consultant, Conduent
Robbie Endris currently serves as Regional Director in the Child Support Services division of Conduent. She joined Conduent in 2013 following retirement as the IV-D director of Louisiana. She retired from state service after 38 years with 19 years in child support, seven of those years as IV-D director. In 2012, she was presented the Charles Dunbar Career Service Award by the Louisiana Department of Civil Service, an award presented annually for outstanding service to the State. During her tenure as director, she served as president of NCCSD. She participates in NCSEA, ERICSA, WICSEC, and LSEA, served as a Board member of ERICSA and LSEA, and is currently serving on the NCSEA Board. She is a proud member of the Ex Ivy Dees and enjoys visiting with other former child support directors. Robbie was graduated from Northwestern State University of Louisiana with a BA in journalism. Robbie enjoys spending time with her family, especially her seven grandchildren.
Laura Van Buskirk – Director, Placer County Department of Child Support Services
Laura is a Kansas native living in the Golden State of California. In May of 2020, she was appointed Director of the Placer County Department of Child Support Services.
Before moving to California, from 2014 through April of 2020, Laura oversaw thirteen counties’ child support operations in the State of Wyoming. Before moving to Wyoming, she worked for 10 years as a child support attorney in Kansas. Laura is licensed to practice law in Kansas, Missouri, and Wyoming.
Laura spends her free time with her husband, Jason, and their incredibly spoiled, 20-year old cat, Witty, who runs the household and reminds Laura daily of who’s really the boss.
