Job Description:

The Clark County District Attorney Family Support Division is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Family Support Unit Administrator position. The ideal candidate will assist in the management, coordination and direction of the work assigned to non-legal and non-investigative staff members and activities through subordinate supervision within the division.

This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

Some positions may be Grant Funded.  Grant Funded positions are subject to continuation based on availability of grant funds and the employee will be terminated without right of appeal when such funds are no longer available.

Employment is contingent upon the results of a background investigation, which may include both a pre and post-offer background check for positions within the District Attorney’s Office.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists in planning, organizing, administering, reviewing and evaluating the work of division staff through subordinate supervisors.
  • Assists in overseeing or provides for the selection, training, professional development and discipline of assigned staff.
  • Provides input into developing, implementing, and monitoring goals, objectives, policies, procedures and work standards for the Family Support Division.
  • Contributes to the overall quality of the division’s service goals by developing and coordinating assigned work teams.
  • Assists in coordinating the activities and services of the division with the courts and other agencies to meet the mandated mission of the division.
  • Confers with department and division management to assess service needs and solve problems.
  • Assists division supervisors regarding personnel, operational, and related issues.
  • Plans, coordinates and conducts a variety of projects and studies related to the work; reviews or develops reports of findings, alternatives and recommendations.
  • Recommends policy and procedural improvements to meet adopted changes or improve service effectiveness.
  • Maintains or directs the maintenance of accurate records and files; directs the preparation of or prepares periodic or special reports related to assigned areas of responsibility for the division.
  • Meets the established goals of the department.
  • Completes and prepares reports on other projects and duties as assigned.
  • Collects and prepares statistical reports as assigned.
  • Assists with department strategic planning.
  • Performs financial reconciliation of bank accounts; oversees the balancing of the financial transactions for the collection unit.
  • Ensures that child support payments are processed and issued in a timely manner.
  • Uses standard office equipment, including a computer, in the course of the work; may drive a motor vehicle or be able to arrange for appropriate transportation in order to visit off premise sites and attend off-site meetings.

Qualifications: (Education, experience, etc.) both required and preferred qualifications and skills:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, or Public Administration, Social Science, or a field related to the work AND three (3) years of full-time experience in program administration in a public service legal or child support setting which required performing legal research, reading and interpreting laws and statutes, and preparing and administering policies and procedures; one (1) year of which included full supervisory responsibility over subordinate professional staff in a major organizational subdivision.
