New Mexico Child Support Attorneys work collaboratively with their staff, the courts and parents in this area of law. Child Support Attorneys work in various jurisdictions representing the state in hearings to provide services to improve child welfare throughout the state. These positions provide in-house support and review of civil litigation actions proposed or directed to ensure children are supported by their parents. This work is impossible without smart, confident attorneys like you.
Travel within the state may be expected in some jurisdictions. Some appearances may be via Zoom, Google Meets or otherwise remote or virtual.
Responsibilities:
In establishing and enforcing federally and state compliant Child Support orders, attorneys can expect to be responsible for:
- Providing in-house advice and direction regarding proposed legal actions and their supporting documents;
- Representing the state in child support hearings before judges or hearing officers;
- Collaboration among courts, parents, and opposing counsel to the largest extent possible whenever possible;
- Travel among some courts for some positions may be expected. This is not ordinarily overnight travel;
- Legal research of intermediate to complex fact sets. Consultation and collaboration with your fellow attorneys and supervisors is highly encouraged;
Qualifications: (Education, experience, etc.) both required and preferred qualifications and skills:
- Juris doctorate, active and in good standing. New Mexico Bar License preferred;
- Spanish language very helpful but not mandatory;
- Driver’s License active and in good standing;
- Use of MS Office, Adobe, Westlaw and other computer systems required;
- Court Advocacy skills are very helpful;
- Full performance at seven years experience;
